Making the decision to home school in Trinidad and Tobago.

Homeschooling in Trinidad and Tobago is not legal, I just thought I might start off by saying that. And I ask why  no one questions this? This form of education have been used for centuries with great success. So then why can't it be legal in Trinidad and Tobago, so that the parents who decide to do this will not be looked upon like some sort of criminal.

This is a list of well known people who were home schooled in other parts of the world..

  • George Washington Carver
  • Pierre Curie
  • Albert Einstein

  1. Legal Status: Homeschooling is legal, but children must be excused from school attendance. Section 78 of the Education Act (Chapter 39:01, 1966) states, “A child is excused from attendance at school, if, in the opinion of the Minister of Education, he is receiving excused satisfactory instruction at home or elsewhere.”
Please note this info is from the HS LEgal defense fund and I homeschooled for three years. I am considering returning to HS next term.
